First-Year Finish Event Precedes Exam Week in Paulding

At the end of April, GHC-Paulding hosted the inaugural First-Year Finish celebration to recognize the end of a challenging year for freshmen students.  Outstanding students also received a variety of awards, handed out by organizers and supporters of the event. 

Alexandra MacMurdo, lecturer in communication, presented the Outstanding Freshman Award to David Martinez, Jessie Summers and Austin Wolfschlag.  Victoria Mujahid, part-time English instructor, presented the Outstanding Achievement in Composition award to Jackson Atkins, Tyresha Cooper, Josh Jones, Matthew McClain, Kayla Newman, Harold Nowden, Candace Roberson and Ebony Wilburn.  Mujahid also presented David Martinez with the Most Influential Award. 

Lyric Sprinkle, student life coordinator at Douglas and Paulding, presented Winnie Calixte and Austin Wolfschlag with the Freshman Footprint Award.  Paulding Students-of-the Month for spring semester were Mauricio Beckrich, Heather Garrett, Antonio Lester, Cindy Moore, Alyssa Di Tomasso and Mercedes Williams, and were recognized by Laura Feagin, part-time instructor of reading.

Joan Ledbetter, director of the First-Year Experience program, discussed study tips for the upcoming exam week, oversaw a mnemonics (memory aids) competition and handed out door prizes.  Denise Clark of Bosschi Catering provided the food.
