Many species of birds visit the wetlands and more than 100 kinds have been observed. To see some, use the BIRDS menu, far right.

The purpose of this bird's display is to attract the attention of the photographer and to lead her away from its nest.

• Agelaius phoeniceus: Red winged blackbird
• Butorides virescens: Green heron
• Egretta caerulea: Little Blue heron
• Fulica americana: American Coot
