John has been director of student life since January 2003 and oversees the direction of the entire student life team. By supervising, coordinating, directing and engaging the various aspects of student development, he plays a vital role in the administration of campus programming to create a fun and educational environment for all GHC students. Once a student at GHC himself, John is a product of student involvement success and strives to give all students the opportunity to get the most out of their time on campus. Previously to his return to GHC, John was an admissions counselor at the University of West Georgia, and was a reporter for several area newspapers. He is a member of a number of professional associations, such as the American College Personnel Association (ACPA), National Orientation Directors Association (NODA), Association for Promotion of Campus Activities (APCA), Georgia College Personnel Association (GCPA), and has served in a leadership position in several associations. He is currently the President of GCPA and serves the Rome community as a board member of the Rome-Floyd Visitors and Conventions Bureau. John was awarded the Earnest C. Jones National Programming Advisor of the Year Award in 2009 by the Association for Promotion of Campus Activities, and is a past chairman for the Regents Advisory Committee on Student Life. He is married with two sons and enjoys camping, reading, soccer, and football.

Lyric has been with the Student Life team since 2010. She is the Student Life Coordinator for the Douglasville and Paulding campus sites. She provides programming at the two sites that engage students and increase student involvement. As a graduate of Georgia College & State University, she uses her skills in leadership and event planning to build a stronger component of Student Life at the GHC instructional sites. †Her past community involvement includes the Georgia College Personnel Association (GCPA) Board Secretary, GCPA Conference Co-Chair, Douglas County Relay for Life Entertainment Chair, and 2012 Student Affairs Foundational Institute Graduate. Lyric was awarded the GHC Employee of the Year in 2013, the GCPA Outstanding New Professional Award in 2014 and the Top Ten Young Professionals of Douglas County Award in 2015. She is married with one son and loves doing anything outdoors.

Abraham has been with the Student Life team since 2014. He is the Student Life Coordinator for the Marietta campus. Abraham strives to provide students with a complete college experience†by bringing awareness to all the services the office of student life has to offer and enhance positive relationship interactions between students, faculty and administration. As a GHC Alum, Abraham knows the importance of becoming involved with Student Life. Prior to joining GHC, Abraham was a student worker at The Office of Multicultural Services and Programs at The University of Georgia in which he is a proud Alum. He serves on the Latino Outreach Committee with†the primary focus to†provide students with the tools and resources they need to access an affordable college education and graduate from Georgia Highlands College. He is currently working on his Masterís Degree at Georgia State University. In his spare time he enjoys traveling, soccer, watching movies, and trying new foods.
Student Center Director & Student Life Coordinator (2010)

Clifton has been at Georgia Highlands College since 2010, when he started the intramural program on the Cartersville Campus. Before coming to GHC, he was a graduate assistant at Berry College where he ran the intramural program and helped coordinate the brand new Cage Athletic & Recreation Center. As the director of the Cartersville Student Center, he oversees the day-to-day operations of the facility. His goal is to increase retention through campus vibrancy, and programming through Student Life and the Student Center is a vital role in achieving that goal. He also oversees Intramural Sports & Recreation on the Cartersville Campus. He is married, and in his spare time he officiates high school and college football.
