When you take the mathematics COMPASS exam at Georgia Highlands College you are allowed to use the TI-83 or TI-84 calculator.

It is a good idea to practice with the calculator before test day. Your instructor has access to the calculators and can let you practice during your class.

Things that you should be able to do with a calculator

+ Add signed numbers
- Subtract signed numbers
x Multiply signed numbers
Divide signed numbers
Find the square root of a number
^ Find the value of a number raised to a rational exponent. (ie. 9 3/2 = 27)
