On this page you'll find helpful resources specific to each faculty academy session. Resources will be updated as courses are offered and updated as needed. Please note that not all sessions have resources. For more general teaching and learning resources visit the Instructional Resource Center page.

Introduction to Faculty Academy

Building a GHC Faculty Website

  • Instructor Site Management: This helpful tutorial provides an overview of the faculty website creation and editing process at GHC. Please note that this page is currently housed in the Faculty Academy Archive and that menus there will not neccesarily reflect the current faculty academy topics.
  • 25-Point Website Usbility Checklist: This handy checklist offers suggestions to increase the accesibility, identify, navigation, and content of any website. Please note that it is geared towards businesses; however, some of the more business-y suggestions can be applied to a faculty website.

Spring 2015 Course Resources:

Advising with Blackboard Collaborate 

  • Slides: Google presentation used during the session. 
  • Collaborate Advisor Help Page: This page was created for GHC faculty and staff who will be using Collaborate to advise students. Includes a detailed description of actions to take before, during, and after an advising session.

Advanced Teaching with Blackboard Collaborate 

  • SlidesGoogle presentation used during the session. 
  • Collaborate Plan Download: This is the great tool that we looked at for automating actions within a Collaborate session. 

Mac 101 

  • Slides: Supplemental powerpoint (not used during the session).
  • Detailed Instructions: These are the fantastic instructions that Noah Paris gave out during the session. I'll put them up as soon as I get them.

Horizon Report 2015 

  • Horizon Report 2015This annual report details the trends in and challenges to higher ed technology adoption.
  • GHC Horizon Report Collaborative Worksheet: During the session we created a collaborative worksheet both summarizing the report and citing discipline-specific benefits and concerns. As soon as I get the ok to share this I'll put it up!
  • Recording: This session was recorded. The recording ends around the 2 hour mark. 

Got Your 6: Interacting with Student Veterans 

  • Slides: Power Point presentation used by Amy Wise and Angie Whellus during the session. As soon as I get this I'll put it up.
