The following programs are learning platforms for this course: D2L, MyMathLab, Blackboard Collaborate (the professor’s virtual classroom and office – a free application that can be accessed via computer, tablet, or phone), and Respondus Lockdown Browser and Monitor (a free download for testing). Students will be required to purchase a MyMathLab access code that includes the eBook (ISBN:  9870321199911) to complete the course. Our first class meeting is a MANDATORY orientation. All course orientation assignments must be completed by Tuesday, January 17 at 9:00 AM, and can be found under the D2L course CONTENT tab.  Each student will be required to complete three proctored tests and a proctored final exam at a GHC Testing Center or approved off-site proctoring service. Students may download a free copy of Office 2016 onto their computers from their GHC email login page.

  1. Purchased a My Math Lab access code that includes the eBook (ISBN # 9780321199911) and completed the MY Math Lab orientation assignment
  2. Logged in to D2L and in the “Start the Class” module

o   Watched the orientation videos.

o   Completed the Respondus LockDown Browser practice quiz

o   Read the course syllabus/policies

o   Post and reply in the Introduction Discussion

o   Completed and submit the orientation scavenger hunt assignment

o   Taken and submitted the Start the Class module quiz.

Students who do not complete all of the above items will be reported for non-attendance and subject to being dropped from the course.  In this class we will utilize D2L, My Math Lab, and Blackboard Collaborate (web-video conference system).  During the semester, students will be required to attend and submit questions at both the Midterm and Final exam review sessions held online via Collaborate. Instructions for enrolling in WebAssign are included in D2L. Students are expected to enroll in WebAssign by Saturday, January 14, 2017, then complete the Orientation assignment. Failure to do so will result in reporting of non-attendance. The course final exam is cumulative and must be taken in person at one of the GHC Testing Centers. Most successful students schedule 5-10 hours per week for study and practice.  Attending the virtual orientation meeting for this course is MANDATORY, and students will be able to choose from one of the following dates to attend.

This class will be using a FREE OpenStax textbook and WebAssign which is different from the other MATH 2261 courses this semester. Class starts Saturday, January 7, 2017. Registered students must have good computer skills, computer access with a reliable internet connection, and take a final exam using the on-campus. The orientation material for this course can be found in the "Information" folder in the Desire2Learn (D2L) course section. Coursework will be completed through D2L and WebAssign (WA). Instructions for enrolling in WebAssign are included in D2L. Students are expected to enroll in WebAssign by Saturday, January 14, 2017 and complete the Orientation assignment. Failure to do so will result in reporting of non-attendance. The course final exam is cumulative and must be taken in person at one of the GHC Testing Centers.
