Adult and Veteran Affairs

For the first time in our nation’s history, the current generation of college-aged Americans will be less educated than their parents. By the year 2020, 60% of jobs in Georgia will require a certificate, associate's degree or bachelor's degree.  Only 42% of the state’s young adults qualify today. At Georgia Highlands College, our faculty and staff strive to support the success of our adult and veteran students pursuing a path to college completion.

"After working in a professional field for 12 years, I thought a paycheck was the way to measure success, until I gathered the courage to leave the security of my job, sign up for college classes and embark on the journey of finding happiness in the workplace."

--Oliver Robbins, GHC Alum, Editorial Manager for V3 Magazine

Adult Learning

At GHC, we know returning to college as an adult can be challenging for the student, their family and even their career.

Through college and community programs and resources, our faculty and staff work with our students to help them reach their professional and academic goals while tending to adult and military responsibilities outside of the classroom.

Georgia Highlands College has been included in the 2016 Guide to America’s Top Colleges and Universities published by the Military Advanced Education Journal. The designation is the fourth for GHC, which was also listed in 2015, 2014 and 2012. Institutions are chosen based on four criteria: a strong military culture at the institution, financial considerations such as tuition and fees and available financial aid packages, scheduling and course flexibility, and support for veterans and their unique issues
