What is Mediation?

According to Webster's dictionary, "Mediation is the act or process of mediating; especially: intervention between conflicting parties to promote reconciliation, settlement, or compromise". The Alternative Dispute Resolution process at Georgia Highlands is established to help students, faculty and staff resolve disputes before they evolve into a grievance or legal proceeding. The process is voluntary and of no cost to the participants. Mutual agreement for mediation is necessary before participation begins. The goal of the process to find consensus among the disputing parties for a successful outcome.
